Communication Policy
To achieve success, students are expected to submit work in each course weekly. Students can learn at their own pace; however, “any pace” still means that students must make progress in the course every week. To measure learning, students complete self-checks, practice lessons, multiple choice questions, projects, discussion-based assessments, and discussions. Students are expected to maintain regular contact with teachers; the minimum requirement is monthly. When teachers, students, and parents work together, students are successful.
Confused on how to get started in your course? If you are new to our course or FLVS, please review the "Navigating the Course" information to learn how to access the main menu, review your lessons, complete and submit your assessments, and check your email. If you still have questions, please reach out to your teacher for further assistance.
Need help submitting your writing assignments? Review the "Uploading Writing Assignments" information to view a step-by-step guide on how to upload and submit your typed assignments to your assignment.
All students will complete a Segment Exam after successfully completing all assignments within the segment. Please review with the "Segment Exam" resources in order to achieve that strong final grade you desire for your segment.
Discussion-Based Assessments (DBAs) are conversations between the student and instructor where you will be discussing what you learned in each unit. These must be completed verbally. Please review the "DBA" information to learn more about how to contact your teacher to complete these assignments.
Staying on track and submitting work weekly is a goal for all FLVS students! Review the "Pace Charts" information to choose your pace plan and ensure that you successfully complete the course by your goal. Talk to your instructor if you have a specific completion deadline your are striving for.
Did you know that all FLVS students are given a FREE Office 365 account? This includes access to Microsoft Office programs such as Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and more. Review the "Office 365 Directions" to view a step by step guide for downloading your FREE programs!
All FLVS students are issued their very own FLVS Zoom log-in and password. You must use this log-in and password each time you log-in to Zoom. Please review the "Zoom Information" to set up your Zoom account, to ensure you are ready for your first Zoom session with your teacher!
FLVS values parents as partners. When parents create a Parent/Guardian Account, it allows parents to have a hands-on approach with their student's academic life at FLVS. Please review the "Parent/Guardian Account" information so you will have 24-7 online access to see your child’s gradebook, submitted and/or graded assignments, and extensive access to teachers!
It is important for students and parents/guardians to communicate with their teacher on a regular basis, to receive progress updates and ensure successful completion of the course. Please review the "Monthly Contact Requirements" for information about communication needs during your time in the course.
For students who are English Language Learners/ESOL students, please visit the ESOL Help Site. Here you will find information for both students and parents to support you on your FLVS journey.
