Reporting Illness
Employees must always report illness to their supervisor immediately to determine if they will be restricted or excluded from the operation. This includes if they live with someone or have come in contact who has symptoms of a contagious illness.
Restricted means the employee cannot work directly with food, utensils, or equipment, while excluded means they are not allowed at the food service operation at all. Refer to the video for more information about how to determine if an employee should be restricted or excluded.
This will be determined by their symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), sore throat with a fever, or infected wounds that cannot be appropriately covered.
