Executive Functioning
Working memory, cognitive flexibility and inhibition (self-control) make up executive functioning. Difficulties in these areas can lead to skill deficits in:
paying attention
organizing, planning and prioritizing
initiating, sustaining focus and completing tasks
understanding other points of view
regulating emotions
keeping track of what you are doing (self-monitoring)
In addition to teaching and modeling these skills, assistive technology can help individuals experience greater success and independence.
