Kindergarten through 4th grade students visit the art room once a week. Each class meets for 30 minutes. These art projects are more teacher directed. Students should know the importance of following instructions and asking questions for clarification. We are building a foundation of art skills that will continue many years into the future. It is also okay if their work does not look just like an example though. Projects encourage individuality through some different choices. Many projects in the art room focus on media. While many projects we complete are combinations of multiple ways of creating, each project has a specific skill being taught. We learn about the lives and artwork of many different contemporary (living) artists and well as some "old masters."
While we do use all washable materials in the art room, accidental messes can happen. Without proper stain treatment, even some washable materials can stain clothing. Students are expected to wear appropriate clothing for making art on their art day. Paint shirts, like an oversized t-shirt, could be worn to art class (to be stored in student locker).

2nd grade classes meet on Tuesday or Thursday (depending on teacher).
