Get to know Mrs. Pierce

I am really looking forward to the 2025 - 2026 school year! As I enter my fourth year teaching art in Fisher (22nd year overall), I cannot wait to see all the wonderful art that is made in the art room!

I grew up in Fairbury, Illinois, and currently live in Fisher with my husband and our two kids.  In my free time, I love to craft (sew, cross stitch, needle felt), make art (drawing and painting) and spend quality time with my family (watching movies, swimming, camping). 

Education: I graduated from the University of Illinois in the fall of 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Art Education. In 2012, I graduated from Saint Xavier University with a Master's Degree in Teaching and Leadership. I still love to learn about the ever changing world of art making and education. 

Experience: I started my teaching career in the Prairie Central School District and spent 14 years teaching where I was needed.  My teaching focused on elementary art (K-6) for the first 7 years, and then middle school art (5-8) art for years 8 through 14. I was able to teach art classes during one block at the high school for two years and developed digital art classes while teaching at the junior high. I then taught four years at Lincoln Trail (3rd-5th grade) in Mahomet. Being a kindergarten through high school art teacher has its challenges, and I feel all my experience has prepared me for and lead me to my current position. Watching students grow over their entire education is an honor!

While product is very important, my teaching focuses on the process of art making and helping students strengthen their inner artist. I believe that everyone can be an artist and my role as an art teacher is to help students see and appreciate all that the visual arts have to offer.
