IRS Rejection: Return Missing Required Form 8962

Step 1: Edit a Return in Progress from Navigation Page

Select "Edit a Return in Progress" on the Navigation Page.

Step 2: Select "Health Insurance & Miscellaneous Items"

Step 3: Select "Yes" under Exchange Provided Health Coverage

If Form 8962 is not generated after answering Yes, then you can also add it to your return by typing "8962" into the search bar at the top left corner of the page, then click on "Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit"

IMPORTANT: The following images and steps are for tax years 2019 and prior

Step 1: Edit a Return in Progress from Navigation Page

Select "Edit a Return in Progress" on the Navigation Page.

Step 2: IMPORTANT: (Do not skip this step)

A completed Form 8962 will not be attached to a tax return if the question asking if Health Insurance purchased from the Health Marketplace is answered "No".

Step 3: Add Form 8692

Please see sections above on entering information into Form 8962 Premium Tax Credit Page:

Step 4: Print Completed Return

Once you have completed entering all the necessary information and verified question two on the Health Insurance & Miscellaneous page has been selected "Yes" to include Form 8962, complete the remaining steps of the amendment.
