ERO Compliance Review Process
Beginning Tax Year 2017, the IRS requires a "IRS eServices Tracking Number" on every tax return filed by a ERO. Returns filed missing this, will be rejected.
EROs are required to provide documentation prior to being allowed to prepare returns using ProTaxPro.com as part of a collaborative effort between the IRS, States and Industry to combat identity theft and refund fraud.
The time to complete the Compliance Review Process is typically 24 hours (1-2 Business Days) but may vary depending on the response time of 3rd parties.
The ProTaxPro Compliance Review Process:
ERO collects the required documentation.
ERO submits the documentation via eMail to their assigned Customer Service Representative.
ProTaxPro reviews the provided documentation and contacts the ERO to request any additional documents and/or clarification.
ERO completes compliance process and is 'passed' to process returns.
Instructions to submit documentation:
Submit via eMail to your assigned Customer Service Representative.
In the Subject Line enter: Compliance Documentation for 'Name of ERO'
Required Documentation for Sole Practitioners:
EFIN Application Summary (screenshot, .pdf, or photo with phone)
Valid Government Issued Photo ID - Passport, Driver's License or State ID (screenshot, .pdf, photo with phone)
