  • Refine your high school plan! Map out a high school plan! Plan with the end in mind so that you make sure you meet any prerequisite requirements.

  • Read the "High School Classes Colleges Look for" article. Challenge yourself to get college ready!

  • Check college admission requirements for the universities you are interested in. Plan ahead to make sure you meet these expectations.

  • Maintain a high GPA. Colleges and scholarships both look at your GPA.

  • Fife High School uses a weighted GPA for honors and awards. When registering for classes, be aware that honors and AP courses can give opportunities for GPA bumps.

  • Learn what a transcript is and how credits work in high school.

  • Continue to build your resume!

      • Create and revise a list of school/community activities, awards, and honors.

  • Network!

      • Get to know your counselors, teachers, and people in career areas you are interested in.

  • Begin your Career Cruising portfolio.

  • Visit collegeboard.org and review their resources for college planning, scholarships, and financial aid.

  • Visit www.fastweb.com and http://washboard.org. Set up profiles to search for scholarships.

Explore Careers and Colleges

  • Tour a nearby college. Visit relatives or friends who live on or near a college campus. Check out the dorms, go to the library or student center, and get a feel for college life.

  • Investigate summer enrichment programs.

  • Plan to attend a Career and College Fair to explore your options. You can go to virtualcollegefairs.org for more information.

Explore Practicing College Entrance Exams

  • Be sure to ask your guidance Counselor or College & Career Specialist about test dates for the PSAT, ACT and SAT. You’ll need to register up to six weeks in advance. Registration information, dates, and deadlines are available at the following websites:
