• First Round  Registration by March 10, 2026 end of business- all open slots available for the taking on first-come, first-serve basis.

• Teams of two students will participate in a challenge that uses potential energy to move their created item forward. 

• Teams will apply principles of physics and engineering, such as energy transfer, force, friction, torque, and mechanical advantage to maximize performance. 

• Teams must have a thorough understanding of simple machines and how to function.

• Designs should emphasize efficiency and thoughtful construction, as even small adjustments can significantly affect results.

• Throughout the process, teams will be encouraged to test, iterate, and refine their designs, generating different problem-solving strategies.

• Teams will have a total of 1 ¼  hour build time

• Criteria for winning will be distance. The furthest distance wins.
