Competition Preparation & Judging Logistics:
Students sign up for scratch on the judge's scratch account in a class and add their project to a studio with their school name as the project name. This will eliminate the problem of screens going blank while judges are judging them and streamline the grading process.
Students will close chromebooks at the end of the competition. Judges will leave with their own chromebooks/laptops to judge elsewhere.
While judges are scoring: Career Coach will present projects to parents/guest on screen for those who would like to stay and see the completed work.
FOR TEACHERS EYES ONLY!!!
Using their new knowledge of events, responses, sequences, and initialization, students will recreate and animate a scene from a movie or TV show provided by the judges using Scratch. Students will translate a script from their chosen scene into Scratch blocks and features, add backdrops and characters, and replicate dialogue from the movie or show to bring their scene to life.
This year the competition will focus on Unit 1, Block A project “Movie Magic”.
The following movie clips will be available to students to view at the Tech Fair.
Monster's Inc Scene (to be clipped down--Start at 55 seconds and end at 2: 45) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BPaTaEN2wxY
Ice Age--(Cute the clip off at 2:06) --https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LKe8V-h7h8
Finding Nemo--https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IezD9WMvULM
Students will also be asked to incorporate an Easter Egg into their clip. They should incorporate a sprite that utilizes motion and represents their home school (Mascot).
