Tech Expo

As the course title suggests, Technology Exposition is the first of a progression of CTE courses offered in middle schools across Frederick County. Over the course of the year, students will use background knowledge, new information and theEngineering-Design Process to respond to numerous challenges such as: the penny hockey board, gravity racer, hot air balloon, foam glider, mouse trap vehicle and bridge or tower construction. During each unit, students might be required to do little light research, safely use a number of hand and power tools and serve as a productive member of a design team.

Ideally, students will take the skills learned in Tech Expo to other classrooms to enhance and increase their productivity and to problem solve more effectively. Students who particularly enjoy Tech Expo might consider taking Comm Tech in seventh grade and/or Problem Solving in eighth grade. All three are fun and very practical courses and will give students a chance to develop the skills that will make them college- & career-ready.

I can say with a fair amount of certainty, your son or daughter will have plenty to share at the dinner table about what's going on in Tech Expo. I can't think of a better way to start off the middle school years than being a part of this class!
