Assessment
In an effort to maintain student accountability, measure the effectiveness of CTE programs around the county and to make informed instructional decisions, the FCPS CTE Curriculum Office created a scoring rubric to rate students on critical skills required to be successful in the classroom and out in the work force. The FCPS CTE Career Readiness Practices Rubric measures proficiency in six categories: responsibility, communication, academic & technical skill, creativity, problem solving and leadership.
CTE students can expect to be rated against the rubric at least twice during each of their CTE experiences, with the last serving as their "final exam." Students who use feedback from the "pre-assessment," set performance goals for themselves and use habits & practices shared in class are almost assured growth from pre- to post-test.
