For me, this standard is mostly concerned with the non-academic side of education. Standard 5 emphasizes the various networks of social, emotional, and behavioral support that are available to students. Students aren't one-dimensional and they should be allowed to experience success in a number of different ways. Here in Standard 5, I present the following artifacts that demonstrate the role of leadership in wraparound services and extracurricular activities. The link to the Red Carpet Celebration for our Championship Basketball Team demonstrates the infusion of the school environment with the culture and language of the community through music (5F). The list of GASTC Regional Competitors exemplifies how positive adult-student relationships support academic learning and social-emotional development (5D). My experience as the Away-Game Administrator reinforces positive student conduct outside of our four walls (5E), and the Funds of Knowledge Assignment illustrates how positive student relationships can help leaders improve educational programs/initiatives to better meet the academic, social, emotional, and physical needs of each student (5A).
We honored our 8th-Grade Boys Basketball Team for winning the district championship!!

Identify one student in your school environment and discover the student’s "funds of knowledge." The emphasis should be on listening and learning from the student, family and community and not on what you can teach the child, family or community. (Coursework)
