Standard 1 is concerned with the mission, vision, and core values of not only the school but also the larger community context that surrounds the school as well. The school's mission, vision, and core values should be evident throughout the campus and should be reflected in the philosophy and decision-making of the students, faculty, and staff that attend it as well. I believe that I've included artifacts that reflect the mission, vision, and core values of Flat Rock Middle School but also align with the communities of Tyrone and Fayetteville that trust our school to educate their children. The annual Title I Stakeholder's Meeting is the opportunity for parents to develop and promote a vision for the school in collaboration with a group of teachers and administrators (1B). The High-School Courses in Middle School presentation organized by our Parent Liaison articulated and stressed the importance of child-centered education and high academic expectations (1C). The Virtual Curriculum Night was designed to allow teachers, students, and parents to develop a shared understanding of our school's mission, vision, and core values related to instruction (1F). Lastly, the Teacher Observation assignment gave me the opportunity to evaluate another teacher and explore how their actions help to achieve the vision for the school (1D).
