The Naglieri Nonverbal Abilities Test (NNAT) is given during universal screening windows in the fall. It is a nonverbal assessment given on the computer that takes 30 minutes or less. No verbal directions or questions are given. Students are given visual directions on how to take the test and are then able to answer each nonverbal question based on the visuals provided by the test.
The Naglieri General Abilities Test is a cognitive assessment that is newly normed and built with the intention of being more equitable for culturally and linguistically diverse students. There are three subtests (Verbal, Nonverbal, and Quantitative) that are presented in a multiple-choice matrix format without written language.
The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is available for students in non testing years. This assessment is only available with a nomination with parent consent (written or verbal with a notation of date and time are acceptable). Once a student takes the assessment and is determined to meet the criteria of Magnet Eligible, they do not need to take this assessment again. The score will follow them as they move throughout the school system. Students may not take two cognitive assessments within the same school year. Late nominations are not accepted so be sure to check with the GT Coordinator to find out when the nomination windows are open each year. These windows are generally in October and February.
