Each family will complete a family survey at the beginning of each year. This will help provide information for the GT coordinator so we can co-create the advanced learning plan for the year. After a draft is completed it will be emailed to you and comments or changes can be made and discussed. Then, the finalized copy will be added to your student's Google Classroom folder and resources to help them with their goals and projects for the year.
Families will also complete the media release that will also students to participate in a variety of activities that might include podcasting, publishing writing, participating in virtual field trips and collaboration with students around the world via video.
An Advanced Learning Plan (ALP) is a personalized plan developed for each identified gifted student in Colorado. Every ALP includes:
One academic goal aligned with the student’s identified area of giftedness
One social-emotional or affective goal to support the whole child
These goals are often connected to the student’s passion project, allowing them to explore interests while building important skills.
To ensure the ALP reflects the student’s unique strengths, interests, and needs, both parents and students complete a beginning-of-year survey. These surveys should be submitted within the first two weeks of school.
The GT Coordinator writes the plans in September, and they are finalized in collaboration with families—typically during October conferences, or sooner when possible.
Families are always welcome to reach out to the GT Coordinator at any time during the year with questions, comments, or concerns—we’re here to support you and your child every step of the way.
