Verna Rolland serves as the Gifted and Talented Coordinator at the French American School of Denver, where she leads the design and implementation of a comprehensive, student-centered gifted program.
With over a decade of experience in education, Verna specializes in supporting advanced learners through a balance of academic challenge and social-emotional development. Her work is grounded in the belief that gifted students require not only rigor, but also meaningful opportunities to think deeply, explore their interests, and grow as whole individuals.
At FASD, Verna has developed a classroom-based model of gifted programming that emphasizes differentiation, project-based learning, and real-world application. She works closely with teachers to support instruction, guide Advanced Learning Plans (ALPs), and ensure that gifted students are consistently challenged within their daily learning environment.
Verna has extensive experience working with diverse learners and is deeply committed to equity in gifted identification and programming. Her approach focuses on recognizing potential, building student confidence, and creating systems that allow all students to access meaningful challenge.
She holds a Master’s degree in Education and brings a background in child psychology, which informs her emphasis on supporting the whole child, academically, socially, and emotionally.
If you have questions about gifted programming at FASD, Verna is always happy to connect.
