GCSE Drama is a great course to study if you want a subject that challenges you in both a practical and a creative way.
You will enjoy this course if you enjoy working and performing as part of a team, as Drama involves a lot of group work and performance work.
Drama is predominantly a practical performance subject and all students will be expected to perform to a variety of different audiences. You will all learn how to use lighting and sound and will also need to be able to write about and develop ideas from the point of view of a designer; that might be sound, lighting, set and props, costume, hair and make-up.
There is a written exam; however the text for that will be explored in a practical manner so that you are able to picture your ideas for the written exam, and see the ideas of others.
All students will be expected to attend theatre visits throughout the course. There will be one theatre visit arranged in the Autumn term of each year.
There will be workshops from visiting companies.
You will be expected to represent the Drama department at assemblies and events.
Together we will have a fantastic time exploring the world of the stage and unlocking its magic.
