Drama
Why study Drama?
GCSE Drama students will learn how drama is created, including all the acting and staging skills that are needed to put a piece of drama on to the stage. You will also learn many other skills that are highly valued in any walk of life, including teamwork, confidence in presenting yourself in public, analytical skills, organisational skills, to name but a few. Most people will see Drama as a ‘soft’ option but it is not for the faint hearted! It will require dedication, motivation and a thirst for knowledge. So if you have a passion for drama, theatre and the arts, then this is the subject for you.
What will I study in Year 10?

What else should I know?
GCSE Drama is a great course to study if you want a subject that challenges you in both a practical and a creative way.
You will enjoy this course if you enjoy working as part of a team, as Drama involves a lot of group work.
Drama is predominantly a practical performance subject and all students will be expected to perform to a variety of different audiences.
There is a written exam; however the text for that will be explored in a practical manner.
All students will be expected to attend theatre visits throughout the course.
There will be workshops from visiting companies.
You will be expected to represent the Drama department at assemblies and events.
Together we will have a fantastic time exploring the world of the stage and unlocking its magic.
