The Franklin & Marshall field hockey team (6-3, 2-0 CC) prepares for two Centennial Conference games this week beginning with a home matchup against Haverford (3-6, 1-2 CC) Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. F&M then plays a road game versus Washington (4-5, 1-1 CC) Saturday at 4:00 p.m.

Last Week

The Diplomats picked up the first of two wins last week against Gettysburg, 3-1, in their second CC game of the season. Wednesday's contest saw Darby Klopp score two goals with Sophie Carroll tallying one in the win. Carroll got the scoring started in the second quarter, collecting the rebounded ball and shooting it into the back of the net for her third score of the season. Klopp added to the Diplomats' lead with goals in the third and fourth quarter. Faith DiMantova and Kat Study each earned an assist on Klopp's goals. F&M put eight shots on goal with only two missing the cage in the game. Read the recap here.

F&M continued building momentum with a 3-0 shutout of Mary Washington on Saturday afternoon. The Diplomats peppered the Eagles' net, sending 19 shots with 11 on goal in the match. Darby Klopp opened the scoring by sending a loose ball through the UMW goalkeeper's legs and into the net. The Diplomats then broke the game open, scoring two goals in the third quarter. Keira Boensch deflected a pass from Katie Roper for her third goal of the season. Roper and Carolina Riley were credited with assists on the play. Grace Fass scored her first career goal off a feed from Klopp with just under three minutes left in the quarter. Read the recap here.

Last Time

The No. 18 Diplomats fell to Haverford, 1-0, in their 2021 matchup. It was the Fords' first victory over F&M since defeating the Diplomats 4-1 in 2010. Carolina Riley led the Diplomats' offense with three shots on goal. Read the recap here.

No. 8 Franklin & Marshall downed Haverford during the 2019 season, 1-0. Darby Klopp scored the game winner six minutes into the fourth quarter. Klopp forced a turnover at the top of the circle and sent a shot that found the lower-right corner of the net for the game-winner. Read the recap here.

No. 18 Franklin & Marshall shutout Washington, 3-0, during last season's matchup. Carolina Riley, Erin Corrigan '21, and Avery Neidland all netted goals in the victory. The Diplomats strong offensive attack outshot Washington, 25-4. Amelia McCarthy had a team-high six shots in the match. McCarthy and Klopp each recorded an assist in the win. Read the recap here.

Washington has not beaten F&M in 10 straight meetings, with the Shorewomen's last win coming in the 2010 season.

Haverford Team Preview

Haverford is coming into Wednesday's game with a two-game losing streak after falling to Bryn Mawr 1-0, and No. 6 Johns Hopkins 5-0. The Fords' only CC win so far this season was a 1-0 victory over McDaniel. Midfielder Delaney Snowden has scored a team-high four goals. Dalia Bercow and Olivia Ahart have tallied two assists each so far this fall. Goalkeeper Mary Smith has a 2.88 goals-against average and a save percentage of 63.9 percent.

Washington Team Preview

The Shorewomen have lost four of their last five games, with their only win coming against McDaniel 5-1. With 10 goals and three assists this season, forward Kat Esposito holds the team-high in point with 23. Goalkeeper Ava Rivera has a 2.73 goals-against average and a save percentage of 67.7 percent.
