Last Week
F&M picked up some keys victories over Dickinson and No. 8 Johns Hopkins last week to close out the regular season. The Diplomats swept the Red Devils in their home-and-home series with a 9-3 win in game one and 8-5 victory in game two. In F&M's game two win at Clipper Magazine Stadium, the Diplomats used a four-run sixth inning that began with a pinch-hit home run by Nolan McCloskey that gave F&M the lead. Dickinson cut the deficit to three, but Thomas McLaughlin denied the Red Devils' comeback efforts to earn his conference-leading sixth save of the year. Spencer Berson led the contest with three hits, while Drew Butera and Bobby Falese registered two each. Read the full recap here.
The Diplomats then went on to split its doubleheader with No. 8 Johns Hopkins on Saturday. The Blue Jays outlasted F&M, 17-16, in game one before the Diplomats earned a 6-3 game two victory to lock up the No. 4 seed in the CC Tournament. In a high scoring game one, Falese broke the program's single-game home run record with three, while also tying the single-game RBI record of seven, which he set earlier in the season. Even with the loss, a Swarthmore loss at Dickinson allowed F&M to clinch a playoff spot. In game two, the Diplomats score two runs in both the second and fourth innings to jump ahead on the scoreboard. Meanwhile, the F&M bullpen limited JHU to just three hits to secure a home playoff game for the Diplomats on Tuesday. Read the full recap here.
