An equation is an important problem solving tool.  A successful business person must make many decisions about business practices.  Some of the these decisions involve known facts, but other require the use of information obtained from equations based on expected trends. 

        Most problem solving equations for business are complex.  Therefore it is essential to gain a basic understanding of equations, before you can tackle the complex ones.   In this unit, as well most preceding units, we will be focusing on solving single degree equations, called linear equations.
