Appointments are now open for fall term!
We're here to help!
Every strong LinkedIn profile should have:
a clear profile picture - professional, friendly, and identifiable
a custom header image - of your university campus, career goals, or relevant experience
an effective heading with 1) industry keywords, 2) a clear description of what you do, 3) highlighted skills and passions
Connect with people you already know (peers, coworkers, professors, friends + family) and people you'd like to know (prospective employers, leaders in your field, etc.).
Send a personalized message - just a few friendly lines can make a big difference.
Make sure your profile is set to "Connect" and not "Follow" (Settings & Privacy -> Visibility -> Visibility of your LinkedIn activity -> Followers).
Write a compelling "About" section, that:
is written in the first personality
shows your personality and professional passions
tells a good story
includes relevant keywords angled towards your next career move
Develop your "Experience" section with short, clear sentences and unique descriptions of each role.
Under the "Education" section, include:
current and past education, as well as exchange programs, summer school, etc.
your final GPA if 3.5/4.0 (or equivalent) and above
honors, awards, notable coursework, academic achievements
Build out other sections (Volunteer Experience, Publications, Projects, etc.) to make your profile more holistic.
Create posts when you:
reach academic or professional milestones
get a notable award
begin/wrap up a job, internship, or project
have anything else you'd like to share with your network!
Reacting, commenting, and reposting are also great ways to engage.
Keep connecting with people of interest, searching IE Alumni in cities or professions of interest. Follow companies and influence related to your desired field.
