The National Honor Society is comprised of juniors and seniors who dedicate themselves to create an enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote worthy leadership, and to encourage the development of character in students of Brashier Middle College Charter High School.
As part of the consideration process for the National Honor Society, we ask that you provide evidence of your character, demonstrated leadership ability, and service to your community.
Be members of the sophomore or junior class.
Have been in attendance for a period of one semester at Brashier Middle College High School.
Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 4.750 weighted grade point average.
Complete a Candidate Form demonstrating achievements in leadership, service, and character, among other criteria.
Candidate Forms are sent to eligible students in the spring semester of their sophomore or junior year.
Upon review of the Candidate Form by the Faculty Council, selection of new members will take place. Candidates who are formally invited to join the National Honor Society will receive notification of their invitation and become members when inducted at a special ceremony. This ceremony is held in the spring.
Once inducted, members must commit to completing one individual service project a semester and one group service project a school year. In addition, members must continue to uphold and exhibit the criteria of scholarship, service, leadership, and character.
A: NHS members must maintain a GPA at or above 4.750.
A: NHS members must complete one Individual Service Project per semester. Additionally, each member must participate in one Group Service Project per year. The group service project consists of tutoring a fellow student who is struggling academically. See the Service Opportunities section for more info.
A: NHS meeting are held once a month, usually during Enrichment or after school on a Friday. Members may miss no more than 1 meeting per semester before disciplinary action is taken. Additionally, members are expected to attend and participate in the yearly induction ceremony.
A: An active member of the National Honor Society who transfers to this school will be automatically accepted for membership in this chapter. The BMC NHS advisor may request the contact information of the advisor at your former school.
