Fly fishing instruction and outings offered to children in foster care at no cost to FACS, foster families, or the community. Learn more here.

The Mayfly Project is a national non-profit organization that is active in over 30 states and has served approximately 1,000 kids in foster care.

The Mayfly Project is a 501(c)(3) organization that uses fly fishing as a catalyst to mentor children in foster care. Our mission is to support children in foster care through fly fishing and introduce them to their local water ecosystems, with the hope that connecting them to a rewarding hobby will provide an opportunity for foster children to have fun, feel supported, and develop a meaningful connection with the outdoors.

Special Note: We open registration up in the spring for all Idaho projects (Coeur'd Alene/Sandpoint, Boise, and Idaho Falls)

A Gym/Play space filled with specialized equipment designed to supplement Occupational Therapy. Additionally, we offer retail items from Melissa and Doug and Crazy Aaron's thinking putty. Sessions can be paid for out of Family Direct Funds. Additionally, we have an Interventionist who holds Social Skills Groups which can be paid by Medicaid, a Music Therapist who can be paid by Family direct, Sensory Camps with arts and crafts, and parent/child exercise classes.

We define relationship building as devoting time and energy to fostering healthy relationships that promote healing through connection.


MENTORSHIP:

We define mentorship as equipping and empowering the children in our programs to be prepared for adult living and to reach their fullest potential.
