There is no one program used for elementary social studies. Instead there are a variety of resources available to the teacher depending on the grade including online resources like BookFlix, Newsela, and CultureGrams as well as short historical pieces.
At the elementary level, the study of social studies begins with the self and expands to the family, the local community, and the world before focusing on the early history of the state of Washington and the nation of the United States.
