At Everett High School, all 9th grade students participate in a CTE Exploratory Program that allows them to experience each of our Career Technical Education pathways. Throughout their freshman year, students visit all available programs to gain hands-on exposure and learn what each career area has to offer.
At the end of the exploratory process, students rank the programs in order of preference. Students may also choose to opt out of CTE if they decide to pursue a different high school pathway.
Student placement into a CTE program is based on their exploratory grades. If more students select a program than we have available seats, a lottery system is used to determine final placement.
Before summer break, rising 10th graders are notified of their program assignment, setting them up for three years of focused career and technical training.
