Career Technical Education (CTE) provides students with a strong foundation in academic knowledge, technical skills, and real-world experience. The goal of CTE is to prepare students for success in both college and career by combining rigorous classroom instruction with hands-on training in high-demand fields.
CTE programs equip students with the skills needed for entry-level employment, industry certifications, and a seamless transition to postsecondary education or the workforce. These programs also support economic development by preparing students for emerging industries and evolving workforce needs.
In Everett, we are proud to offer high-quality CTE that reflects our city’s diversity, values, and commitment to opportunity for all.
Our Career Technical Education (CTE) programs are carefully designed to align with state and industry expectations. Each program follows Massachusetts Vocational Technical Education Frameworks, which are developed in partnership with employers, educators, and workforce leaders to ensure students learn the skills needed in today’s job market.
All of our programs meet the requirements of Perkins V, the federal grant that supports high-quality CTE. This ensures our students have access to up-to-date training, strong academic foundations, and real-world career readiness.
Students spend about half of their time (at least 900 hours) engaged in training.
Each CTE program has a max number of students allowed. Please refer to the individual program page for more information.
Teachers must be licensed to teach a specific career area at the high school level. Their license also requires them to have extensive experience in the field.
Programs may offer "Co-Op" or internship experiences with partnering employers outside of the school as well as other work-based learning experiences (shadowing, clinicals, industry sponsored projects, pre-apprenticeships, field trips, etc,...)
In most cases, students can achieve a program-related license or certification; or earn credit toward college or towards apprenticeship in a Trade.
