Carolynn Parmenter, Culinary Arts and Baking & Pastry Instructor, brings 23 years of teaching experience to Everett High School. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Hotel, Restaurant, and Travel Administration and is currently pursuing her Master’s in Occupational Education. Before entering the classroom, she worked as Assistant Pastry Chef at the Westin Hotel in Portland, Oregon, and in several Boston restaurants—experience that continues to shape her teaching and her kitchen standards.
Carolynn loves teaching Culinary Arts because the kitchen gives students real-world skills, instant feedback, and a sense of pride in their work. Watching students transform—gaining confidence, mastering new techniques, and realizing their potential—is what keeps her passionate about this profession. One of her favorite senior-year projects is the Gingerbread House build, a hands-on challenge that blends baking technique, precision, creativity, and time management.
She has been recognized with the Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching, and her students have earned numerous placements in culinary competitions over the years.
Carolynn’s personal philosophy is simple and powerful: “After 23 years, I’ve learned that the most important thing I teach isn’t recipes—it’s belief. When students believe in themselves, everything else falls into place.”
Outside of school, you’ll usually find her at the hockey rink cheering on her boys or out in the woods hiking mountains with her three fur babies.
