Calendar

PURPOSE

A calendar can be used for:

  • Keeping track of birthdays
  • Homework
  • Appointments
  • Tasks
  • Reminders (events, etc)
  • Alibis (Do you remember what you did on 14 Jan ‘16?)
  • Share your calendar with someone else

Create an appointment

First, open google calendar via the apps (squares in the right top when you are logged into your google account). Then read and fill in.

NB: It is important to note that the use of this e-mail address and everything done in the gmail domain is for educational purposes. Everything is logged, and the management or system administrator have access to everything in the domain, including e-mail conversations and chats.

Sharing calendars

As you can see on the left, it is possible to add a lot of calendars, that you can turn off and on, simply by clicking on the coloured box in front of it. To add one of a friend or colleague, you can click on the arrow next to “other calendars” and you have several options:

  • Add a colleague's calendar, which will then ask you for their e-mail address. You send the request, if they accept (or have set theirs to “public”, it will be added to the list.
  • Browse interesting calendars , like the one of the International Cricket Council, if you are interested in Cricket
  • Add by URL. Some organisations have a so-called “Ical” calendar. You add the link, and it will be a live import from that calendar.
  • Import calendar: you can use this to import events once. It is not live, but could be useful if you want to change calendars, and delete one.
  • Settings: you can find an overview of your calendars here with some options, like unsubscribe, if you no longer want a certain calendar.
