Health & Safety Induction
The information contained within this “ways of working” document, and the Aston Cross Manual Handling Video found here forms the basis of the colleague office induction. Upon first arrival to begin working at the office, Line Managers should cover key topics of entry into and exit from the building under normal circumstances. Office orientation, emergency evacuation, fire assembly point location, how to summon first aid and the location of the first aid room. For information that needs to be communicated to visitors, please refer to the visitor induction document.
Fire Action and Assembly Points
The fire alarm will be tested weekly every Wednesday at 8am. Evacuation drills are completed six monthly.
Please note: Some of the ID passes have been printed and incorrectly state that the fire alarm is tested on Thursday. Please refer to the information above regarding fire alarm tests.
Should the fire alarm sound at any other time, please follow the fire evacuation process displayed graphically below and take instruction from trained Fire Marshals.
Regardless of which floor you are on, there are three staircases located at the rear of the building. One in the left corner, one in the centre behind the lifts, and one in the right corner. Follow the red arrows on the below plan. The front door is NOT available for exit during an emergency evacuation.
When you arrive outside at the rear of the building, follow the arrows below to “Assembly Point One”, which is situated on a lamp post at the end of one of our allocated parking bays. Wait there for further instruction from a Fire Marshal. Do not re-enter the building until you are told it is safe to do so.
The location of the exit staircases and “Assembly Point One” is also contained in the Pristine Condition office presentation.
