Work Experience
The Adult Transition Program (ATP) is a comprehensive initiative designed to empower students with disabilities as they transition from high school to adult life. Our program focuses on developing essential life skills, fostering independence, and providing valuable work experience opportunities. Through a carefully structured approach, we guide students toward successful employment and community integration.
Work Experience Pathway
Our program offers a multi-step approach to help students gain meaningful work experience:
Classroom-based vocational tasks: Students begin by developing foundational skills in a supportive classroom environment.
On-campus work experience: As students progress, they take on responsibilities within the school setting to build confidence and practical skills.
Volunteer opportunities: We partner with local organizations to provide students with real-world volunteer experiences. Our valued volunteer sites include St. Stephen 's-in-the-Field, Cathedral of Faith, Martha's Kitchen, Goodwill, Hope Thrift, and Lord's Pantry.
WorkAbility 1 Program: This initiative connects students with local businesses for hands-on work experience. Our partners include CVS, Walgreens, Costco Warehouse, Costco Business Center, Zumiez, Smart & Final, Journey's, JCPenney, Outdoor Supply Hardware, YMCA, and Old Navy to name a few.
Paid Internship Program (PIP): Some of our WorkAbility 1 partners offer extended work experiences through PIP, providing a stepping stone toward permanent employment.
Job placement: The ultimate goal is to assist students in securing long-term, meaningful employment.
Our program emphasizes individualized work experiences, communication skills, money management, and integration with the community. By collaborating with a diverse range of partners, we ensure that students have access to various work environments that align with their interests and abilities.
