ESU #17 is an active participant in Service Implementation Model Process and Log (SIMPL), which is included in the "Influence" and "Invest" Bold Steps of the Educational Service Unit Coordinating Council (ESUCC).
ESU #17 conducts an annual school district Data Dig in order to confirm and prioritize ESU services. Once the annual ESU Service Plan has been created, the ESU meets with each district to create individual School Service Plans, which include 1) selecting services to support its improvement goals and initiatives and overall operation, 2) identifying the level of support needed based on the outcomes identified (what educators need to know and be able to do as a result), 3) scheduling professional learning sessions during In-service and other professional development time identified by the school district, and 4) submitting activity logs as documentation of support.
In 2021-2022 ESU #17's Service Plan included 28 services.

Service Matrix reflects the services that each member district has either accessed or intends to access
Service Implementation is a graphic summary of current services accessed by member districts, including
the total number of services provided by ESU #17
the total number of staff service hours accessed
the modes of service delivery
the number of hours accessed per service
Services logged in 2021-2022 primarily included staff development services provided by the professional development team. ESU #17's technology and instructional materials services are not logged; however, they are checked when accessed by school districts. Special education services have not been logged because they are still primarily direct support to students.
1,321 total professional development hours of SIMPL services were logged in 2021-2022, with the following breakdown of settings:
ESU Hosted - 748 hours (57%)
School Hosted - 389 hours (29%)
Video Conference - 106 hours (8%)
Hybrid - 78 hours (6%)
In 2020-2021 a combined total of $88,210 was saved by ESU #17 school districts through Nebraska Cooperative Purchasing.
Additionally, in 2021-2022 member districts saved a combined total of $95,507 through staff development services provided by the ESU.
Of the 1,321 professional development hours logged in SIMPL, this graphic represents
the number of educators* per district (in parentheses)
the total number of service hours logged per district and
the translated number of service hours per district educator
While Ainsworth received the most number of service hours of all districts (335), Keya Paha received 18.4 service hours/educator, the highest of all districts.
*Educators includes all certificated individuals employed by the district.
