Our Session will focus on Services for Independent Living (SIL) is a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living in Northeast Ohio. SIL provides an array of individual and community services designed to help and empower individuals of all ages and all disabilities lead healthy, productive lives and participate in community life as they choose.
Tina Hawkins joined SIL in March 2022. She will be one of the Youth Transition Coordinators at SIL. She is a mother and grandmother of two beautiful ladies. She currently enjoys reading, arts & crafts, and spending time with family. Her prior position was working as an Inclusion Service Coordinator at New Avenues to Independence. She’s been working in the DD field for well over 10 years now and absolutely loves what she does. She looks forward to many years, laughs, and new experiences with everyone here at SIL.
April Shaw joined SIL in April 2014 as an Independent Living Specialist. She strives to teach individuals with disabilities how to maintain their independence. She embraces the philosophy that independence is not always doing things by yourself, but being in control of how they’re done. She is a graduate of Cleveland State University and holds both a Master’s and a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. April works with our Transition program helping individuals transition from a facility back into the community. As well as working with our youth population, helping our youth gain skills to help prepare them for life after high school. She enjoys learning and exploring new things, helping others, and spending time with her family and friends.
