Apps for Transition Planning
Apps are an essential assistive technology tool that can help level the playing field when it comes to transitioning from high school to adult life. Whether it be for work, play, independent living or for all of the above, there is an app that will help. We will go over Apps for Reading Text Aloud; Apps for Scheduling and Organization, Visual Timer Apps, and Apps for Chores, Hygiene and Being in the Community.
Julia graduated from Kent State University with a B.A. in Special Education- Multiple Handicaps in December of 1988. She was hired by CCBDD in January of 1989, originally as a substitute instructor. From 1989 - 1996, she was a classroom instructor at Green Road Developmental Center. During that time, she received my Masters in Education – Special Education. In 1996, she became a satellite teacher in Garfield Heights which is where she taught until beginning her current position as Assistive Technology Specialist in August of 2007. In this position, she provides support to individuals of all age levels, and within all ranges of functioning, both within our agency and in the community. She has presented numerous in-services on computer access, adaptability of programs for students with special needs, and the various aspects of the Assistive Technology Specialist job.
