Join Amy as she shares her experiences as an advocate for herself and others with disabilities and her travel adventures where she uses her skills to know what she needs and how to get it!
Amy Hook started her advocacy with the help of her parents who helped her find a good school to assist with her unique learning needs. Things did not always go as planned even through college and Amy testified about the bullying that she endured at her school for the passage of the ADA.
Amy has been involved with People First since its inception, the ARC of Ohio and the President's Board. She has received many awards for her advocacy but the one she is most proud of is the Legacy Award in 2008.
Amy has advocated for and helped many individuals with disabilities regarding policymakig, healthy living, voting and transportation rights, and travel. Amy loves to travel and has a cruise planned for 2025 to Australia for 22 days. Amy uses her self advocacy skills to know what she needs to travel and how to get it!
