This Adolescent Literacy Network will provide different information each day.

Day 1: Together we will deepen our understanding of the body of research known as Science of Reading (SoR) and we need to articulate the difference between literacy across content areas and disciplinary literacy within the secondary level.

Day 2: Together we will discuss how instructional leadership for disciplinary literacy can start to take shape in your buildings. We will investigate strategies from the Teaching and Learning Lab at Harvard on Discussion Protocols and Nine Talk Moves.

Day 3: Together we will explore How We Can Support Students When Faced with Challenging Texts. Day 4: Wrapping up the year and developing our next steps together. Join us for as many days as you are able.

Toddler and Preschool Age - Early childhood is an important time to help young children with ASD to develop critical language and learning skills. With video examples in homes and preschool classrooms, this course will introduce you to evidence-based strategies that can be used in natural environments during typical routines and activities of toddlers and preschoolers. This course takes approximately 10.5 hours to complete.

Every teacher, every child, and every situation is unique; and each demands a thoughtful and intentional approach.

This Adolescent Literacy Network will provide different information each day.

Day 1: Together we will deepen our understanding of the body of research known as Science of Reading (SoR) and we need to articulate the difference between literacy across content areas and disciplinary literacy within the secondary level.

Day 2: Together we will discuss how instructional leadership for disciplinary literacy can start to take shape in your buildings. We will investigate strategies from the Teaching and Learning Lab at Harvard on Discussion Protocols and Nine Talk Moves.

Day 3: Together we will explore How We Can Support Students When Faced with Challenging Texts. Day 4: Wrapping up the year and developing our next steps together. Join us for as many days as you are able.

Acadience Reading K–6: provides universal screening detects when students need extra support is sensitive to effects of intervention supports the RtI/Multi-tiered model.

This is on the Ohio Department of Education's approved list to use as a universal screener.

This training provides an introduction to the COS process, how to describe children's functioning in the three outcome areas, and explore the five areas of essential knowledge that teams need to have for completing the COS process. The training will involve key features of the Child Outcomes Summary (COS) process and required information to successfully complete the process. Participants will complete application activities and explore the requirements and resources specific to state policies about collecting child outcomes data.

The participant will:

  • explain why outcomes data are collected and their importance for program improvement.

Dyslexia is a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia refers to a cluster of symptoms, which result in people having difficulties with specific language skills, particularly reading. Students with dyslexia usually experience difficulties with other language skills, such as spelling, writing, and pronouncing words.

This PD is for all administrators and teachers new to the Ohio Improvement Process or those that may need a refresher.

This learning session will provide the basics of the Ohio Improvement Process. Administrators and teachers will learn the basics of the OIP and understand how teams will work towards school improvement and increased student achievement using data and evidence based instructional practices within the framework.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

Participants will be able to explain how the Ohio Improvement Process (OIP) lays the foundation for sustainable change.

Attendees will learn about how to support the implementation of the OIP which consists of setting up the collaborative teams and processes districts and schools need to identify, research, plan, implement and monitor, and examine their improvement efforts.

We will also cover how OIP teams facilitate communication and engagement, decision-making and resource management that thread through the process.
