Self-paced course open from Aug 1, 2024 - May 30, 2025


As a Google Certified Educator, you gain confidence with digital learning strategies and Google tools, facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity, and join the Google certified family. By reading, watching videos, doing activities, and completing tasks with Google Core Tools, you'll learn how to integrate Google in your classroom. By the end of this course, you'll be ready to take the exam to become a Google Certified Educator Level 1.


This is a 13 part series designed to provide you with the training necessary to obtain your Google Educator Level 1 certification. Once you have completed all units in this series, you will need to sign up and pay for the Google Level 1 Exam ($10) at eduexams.withgoogle.com. DO NOT register too early for the exam as you have a limited window to take the exam. Register for the Level 1 exam after you complete the entire coursework.


Each unit consists of two parts:

Part 1 of each unit includes reviewing materials from the Google Fundamentals Trainings website, completing the online unit review, and then submitting a screenshot of your results to each course. Google Fundamentals Training Modules for Level One Certification


Part 2 of each unit includes completing a quiz or task associated with specific Google Core Tools.

Participants will produce their own Implementation Plan demonstrating the use of Google Core Tools. The plan will highlight their learning adventure with Google Educator Level One certification. Participants can include elements of asynchronous assignments including Deep Dive Topics/Tasks, Fundamentals Reviews, or Module/Exam Reflection.

Erica Kaufmann, C-SLDI, and Olivia Weisman, CALT, will facilitate this network opportunity for individuals certified in structured literacy and/or district multidisciplinary team members.  The network will allow participants from neighboring districts to gain ideas from one another to support the MTSS process as well as implementation of HB 436 and Ohio’s Dyslexia Guidebook.  Participants will also hear relevant updates on law related to or in support of literacy.

Target Audience:  All educators and administrators (teachers, paraprofessionals, social workers, counselors, parents, and anyone who participates in PBIS)


A 2-day training that includes an introduction to PBIS and six-key concept modules. This training will cover the key components of the PBIS Tier I Implementation and is designed to cover preschool through grade 12. The format will also allow teams the necessary time for action planning with the support of our PBIS trainers.

Educators, administrators and parents of gifted students will gather to discuss relevant gifted topics. There will be three sessions offered from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m.; October 9, January 22, and April 16. Come and enjoy a cup of coffee or tea while learning and discussing various topics toward understanding and educating gifted students at home and in the classroom. 10/23/24 - writing across the content areas to support and stretch gifted & talented learners

Audience:  Teachers of Gifted Students 

Lori G. Wilfong, Ph.D., began her career in East Los Angeles, CA, teaching English as a second language to 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for the Los Angeles Unified School District. This sparked her interest in motivating adolescent readers and led to positions in Rootstown Local Schools and Maple Heights City Schools as a literacy coach and literacy specialist. Upon completion of her doctoral degree in Literacy Education from Kent State, Wilfong taught for 17.5 years in the Middle Childhood Education program at Kent State University at Stark. In 2020, Wilfong assumed the role of Director of the National Writing Project at Kent State. Beginning in 2024, she transitioned to the Kent Campus to serve as Director of the Reading and Writing Center as well as Program Coordinator for the graduate literacy program. She remains an active consultant in several area school districts, furthering her research interests in the teaching of writing, vocabulary, and small group instruction.
