Self-paced course open from Aug 1, 2024 - May 30, 2025
As a Google Certified Educator, you gain confidence with digital learning strategies and Google tools, facilitate and inspire student learning and creativity, and join the Google certified family. By reading, watching videos, doing activities, and completing tasks with Google Core Tools, you'll learn how to integrate Google in your classroom. By the end of this course, you'll be ready to take the exam to become a Google Certified Educator Level 1.
This is a 13 part series designed to provide you with the training necessary to obtain your Google Educator Level 1 certification. Once you have completed all units in this series, you will need to sign up and pay for the Google Level 1 Exam ($10) at eduexams.withgoogle.com. DO NOT register too early for the exam as you have a limited window to take the exam. Register for the Level 1 exam after you complete the entire coursework.
Each unit consists of two parts:
Part 1 of each unit includes reviewing materials from the Google Fundamentals Trainings website, completing the online unit review, and then submitting a screenshot of your results to each course. Google Fundamentals Training Modules for Level One Certification
Part 2 of each unit includes completing a quiz or task associated with specific Google Core Tools.

Participants will produce their own Implementation Plan demonstrating the use of Google Core Tools. The plan will highlight their learning adventure with Google Educator Level One certification. This network is an opportunity for literacy coaches to share ideas with one another around the planning and implementation of the coaching process for your school/district, to share evidence-based strategies, and to gain ideas or support from one another. During these network meetings, we will also facilitate a book study (Literacy Coaching in the Secondary Grades: Helping Teachers Meet the Needs of All Students, 1st Edition by: Jade Wexler, Elizabeth Swanson, and Alexandra Shelton) throughout the year at each meeting (Participants are required to purchase their own text). These times will also be used to update you on guidance from Ohio’s Plan to Raise Literacy Achievement, Ohio’s Dyslexia Guidebook, and any other relevant updates in law related to or in support of literacy.
The network will meet every other month in person. Network discussions from 8:30-11:30 and 12:30-3:30 will be collaboration time with room available and support from ESC Literacy Consultants/Specialists.

3/14/25 - vertical differentiation: strategies to stretch student thinking
Audience: Teachers of Gifted Students
Based upon her book, Vertical Differentiation, Dr. Mofield, will share strategies designed to foster deep inquiry and conceptual understanding by guiding students to justify conclusions, apply critical and creative thinking, develop solutions to real-world problems, and transfer learning across contexts
Emily Mofield, Ed.D., is an Assistant Professor of Education teaching courses in gifted education and in the Ed.D. Program for Learning Organizations and Strategic Change. Dr. Mofield is passionate about equipping teachers with high-quality resources to use to identify, serve, and teach gifted and high-potential students. Dr. Mofield has co-authored award-winning curriculum for gifted/advanced students (with Vanderbilt Programs for Talented Youth). Her co-authored book, Collaboration, Coaching, and Coteaching: Sharing Strategies to Support Gifted Learners was recognized as Book of the Year for 2021 by the National Association for Gifted Children (with Vicki Phelps). Dr. Mofield is regularly invited as a featured speaker at various conferences and leads professional learning addressing rigor, differentiation, social-emotional learning, and instructional coaching for school districts and special groups. Emily's research has been published in prominent journals including Gifted Child Quarterly, Journal of Education for the Gifted, Roeper Review, and Gifted Child Today. She enjoys spending time with her wonderful husband, loving daughter, and her sweet "pandemic" poodle.
