ELPS

In accordance with Chapter 74.4, the English Language Proficiency Standards outline the instruction schools must provide to ELs for them to have the full opportunity to learn English and succeed academically. The ELPS are to be implemented as an integral part of the instruction in each foundation and enrichment subject of the TEKS.

ELPS are to TELPAS as TEKS are to STAAR.

ELPS and TEKS are for instruction.

ELPS are for instruction in the acquisition of English.

TEKS are for instruction in the acquisition of content.

TELPAS and STAAR are the assessment of ELPS and TEKS.
