Station #1

Coding

Mouse Robot Coding  Tk-2nd Grade

Students will learn to create a sequence of movements to make the Code and Go Robot Mouse get to the flower/beehive. 

Robot Mouse Unplugged Coding Activity

Students will learn: 

As students build coding skills. They will learn how to move their mouse using arrows. They will then learn how to use the buttons on the mouse robot. 

Ozobots  

3rd-5th Grades

Today's task is to learn how to care for and code an Ozobot.

LEGOS

1st LEGO TASK:   Students will work in pairs as they construct a PINWHEEL.

Students will learn to follow directions as they complete the challenge. Once they build their pinwheel, they will test the prototype and make predictions.

Students will point their pinwheel at the center of the fan and begin moving It slowly towards the fan. Be careful not to get too close! Find out which of the pinwheel wings start turning furthest from the fan. 

2nd LEGO Task: Students will work in pairs to construct SPINNING TOPS.

For younger students:  It may be a good idea to let younger students play with the top and launcher before testing. 

Students will learn to follow directions as they complete the challenge. Their task is to construct a device that can make the spinning tops spin.  

Make a prediction:  Which top do you think will spin a long time? Which top will spin even longer? 

Write down your findings on your worksheet.

TECH SKILL BUILDING

Students will need their CLEVER Cards to access the typing programs they will be using.


TK-2nd grade students will learn how to use the keyboard and memorize letter and number key locations. 

3rd-5th grade students will memorize the keyboard and learn how to use the home row.

Engineering

Please make sure your area Is completely clean before leaving the lab. 

Students will be able to ask for additional Index cards and dots when needed. If their structure is stable and has a good foundation.
