March - April Lab Activities

STATION #1
ROBOTICS
Wonder Dash Robots
Coding
TK-2nd: Students use the Wonder Dash Robot and learn how to move their robot forward, turn right or left, and then back as they collect Easter Eggs. They will be using the GO App.
Blockly App
3rd-5th: Students will use the Blockly App to create an algorithm that will allow them to pick up Easter Eggs.
STATION #2
STEM BINS
Students will collaborate and problem solve as they attempt to build a an object using the materials provided In the STEM Bin area.
STATION #3
OSMO
TANGRAMS
TK - 2nd Grades
OSMO - CODING
3rd - 5th Grades
All coding pieces must stay inside the box In order to keep the pieces together. Students should make sure that their pieces have been returned to their box.
Students will learn to code as they connect colorful blocks of code.
STATION #4
Magnatiles
Magnatiles - Creating 2D and 3D objects
Students will create 2 and 3D objects using the Magnatiles.
STATION #5
Engineering
Engineer A Coaster
Through trial and error, students learn how the track position affects the disk—as it rolls and falls from track to track and into the goal box.
Students will develop skills in understanding speed and momentum, force and motion, angles and trajectories, and size.
STATION #6
TECH SKILLS
Students will explore the Symmetry and create different Images to Increase their ability to copy and Image and visual skills. Copying a drawing is not as easy as you think, it takes a lot of concentration and attention to create the images the students see.
Students will begin by picking which activity they want to work on. They will then begin drawing.
What are they learning and improving?
Cognitive skills (thinking about the illustration and what it is, analyzing it, predicting how to draw it symmetrically)
Fine motor skills (holding the crayons)
Drawing + Hand-eye coordination.
Concentration + Focus.
