P.E

This month we have been practicing our Tennis Skills. We have been learning different techniques.

     Writing

In writing we have been focusing on discursive writing using PEEL. This is basically including both sides of an argument to get the reader thinking. For example, if someone wrote a discursive paper on why dogs/cats where better, they would include both sides to the argument. Basically one paragraph or more saying why cats are better, and one or more paragraphs about why dogs are better.  We have also been looking at different themes of texts.

Reading

In reading, we have been starting to look at non - fiction texts and practicing our summarising skills.

We have also been revising the different themes surrounding a text. We were challenged to identify the theme in a text and find evidence to support our thoughts.

           Secretarianism

We have been enjoying learning about an important part of Glasgow's culture.                        Sectarianism is when a person defines and treats you unfairly because you are from a certain group. In our class novel, Divided City, there is an example of sectarianism which is where our topic came from. We have made newspapers refferring to the incident that happened to one of the characters in our class novel. We have also used our imagination to draw out the characters using evidence from the text. Recently our class has also been learning on how to search for different themes in a book.  For example: Friendship, Sectarianism, Overcoming obstacles .. etc. We have also been drawing tenement flats as they are an important part of Glasgow's history and culture.
