Literacy

In Literacy over the past few weeks, we have been learning to report in different ways on the FIFA world cup 2022 matches. It was really interesting! We did different types of writing such as diary, article, letter, advert, newspaper, emails, etc. We then chose our favourite piece of writing to go on display outside the classroom. We extremely enjoyed the topic and we are also really happy Argentina won the world cup. We learnt a lot of things about the world cup and the key features of all the different types of texts.

Maths

In our maths, we have been doing a lot of things recently. We've been doing things like:

We have also been doing some budgeting for our ideal Christmas dinner (YUMMY!) and some profiting for the best keychain business in Maidenhill primary school, Krafty Keychains by P7a.

Our Enterprise

Over December we've created a small business, Krafty Keychains! We create and sell keychains by hand and eco-friendly for £1 each. All of us have our roles in this business, Like:

Production makes the keychains, Marketing/sales advertises our products, Administrators take care of our profit as well as deciding the price of the keychains while the Managers watch over everyone and make sure that they do their job correctly. It was a really fun time! It's a shame we're stopping in the new year. We're just so glad that we had made over £100 in under 1 month (WE KNOW, TOTALLY CRAZY)!

Green Washing

In relation to our P7a enterprise, Krafty Keychains, we have been learning about green washing and misleading data. We looked at businesses that say they are an eco-friendly product when they actually aren't. Their graphs and data are usually the things that are misleading about companies and we've been identifying them closely. We also did a project about being misleading. We created a cereal bar and were trying to make it seem like the better product when it actually wasn't. It was a fascinating topic and we are now positive not to get greenwashed by companies/products. A big thank you to Miss Waddell for teaching us about this.
