December 2023

The pupils have worked very hard this term and are ready for a much needed rest! Some of our pupils have worked hard to prepare this blog post.

Literacy

Story writing we have been learning about settings and character descriptions .We wrote a Christmas story about something going very wrong in Santa's workshop 🎄. We had to write it in paragraphs for the different parts of the story. We watched a video to get ideas and inspiration. We thought about our 5 senses and used them in our story, we got the ideas from the video. The 5 senses are sight, smell, touch, hearing and taste.

Numeracy

One of our groups has been learning about coordinates and how to find and plot them on a grid. They have been creating festive pictures by plotting the coordinates 🏫. They are also learning about finding the area of a 2D shape like squares and rectangles and some that have both as part of the shape.

Some of us are learning about misleading data. We are learning to tell when information is trying to trick us. Why it is tricking us and how to spot the tricks.

Some of the class are learning about DMAS. This is the order that you are to solve questions. You have to divide before you times and then add before take away

Festive Art

The art we have been doing is Christmas themed. We have cut out snowflakes for the class windows and we are making paper chains that have festive designs on them.❄️☃️

Christmas Party

The P5s all had their Christmas party.  At the Christmas party we played musical statues, four corners and knights, horses and princes.  We had some crisps, chocolate and juice. We had all been learning ceilidh dances and got to dance with our friends. The teachers looked for who danced the best and they received a prize. It was very fun!🎉
