September

sketching

This month, we have been learning about line and shade to sketch things in our natural environment. We were lucky enough to have a spell of good weather so were able to take our learning outside. Have a look at our leaf and apple sketches - we are so proud of them!

PE

We have been perfecting our ball and rackets skills during tennis which culminated in some tennis matches! We have also been improving our passing and scoring skills in football.

punctuation

We have been learning how to use direct speech in our writing. We know that the speech marks only go around the words that are spoken, and to always use a full stop, comma, exclamation mark or question mark. We loved having the opportunity to write on the table with chalk pens to showcase all we have learned!

Learn with us afternoon

Thank you to all the grown ups who were able to make it along to our "learn with us" afternoon. We had great fun playing maths games, completing a STEM construction challenge, sketching and working together to do a research task! We think the grown ups had just about as much fun as the kids!

All about chocolate

We have been hard at work learning about all things chocolate! We have researched the history of chocolate as well as the production process. We designed our own chocolate bars, packaging and advertising campaign. P5/6 learned about the role flour, eggs, butter, sugar, chocolate and emulsifiers have when baking. We also loved taste testing M&S Melt in the Middle chocolate puddings and analysing why they have been so successful, as well as making suggestions for how to improve their design.  Charlie and your chocolate factory - eat your heart out...
