Money

We have revisited money in Numeracy and Maths. We have built on our knowledge of coin recognition and worked hard to be able to order coins in terms of their value. We also learnt to add within the context of money to say what the total amount spent would be. We can even give change from 10p or 20p.

 Subtraction

We have been developing our subtraction skills in Numeracy and Maths. We have been able to show subtraction in different ways as well as using pictures, and concrete materials. We have been working very hard and have been able to solve subtraction calculations to 10 and beyond! We have been using lots of games like subtraction snakes and ladders, animal farm subtraction and mental maths games, as well as using digital technology to enhance our numeracy learning. We have also been familiarising ourselves with our subtraction symbol. We have even begun to link addition and subtraction facts when learning about fact families.

Direction

We have been having a great time developing our knowledge of direction in Numeracy and Maths. We have been learning the different language used to describe direction, such as left, right, quarter, half and whole turn, beside, between and behind etc. We have been doing indoor and outdoor learning with lots of practical experiences like moving in different directions to the Cha Cha Slide, making chalk mazes outdoors, programming BeeBots to move round a map, and playing a prepositions board game. We even had a marching competition and practised shouting commands such as, "Left, right, left!"
