Time

We loved learning about time. We worked hard to learn 'o'clock' on digital and analogue clocks and enjoyed using play dough to make our own. We learned about the different parts of a clock, too - ask us where the minute hand and hour hand are next time we ask the time!

Addition

We have been working so hard to learn to add. We have been able to show sums in different ways as well as adding using pictures, and concrete materials. We've even been able to solve sums without any support! We have spent time getting familiar with the symbols used in addition number sentences. We also focused on exploring the stories of all numbers up to 10. We used egg boxes to help us show the stories of 6. Have a look at some of our spiders that helped us show stories of 8. We also used pizzas to explore the stories of 8.

Fractions and Capacity

We have also enjoyed exploring fractions and have linked this to the capacity of different containers. We have learnt to identify halves and can explain that halving an object means cutting it into two equal parts. We can also share an amount among different numbers of groups. We did this with pom-poms, loose parts and during our Teddy Bears' Picnic. We also discussed the term half full when playing in water and sand.

Data Handling

We have built on our previous learning related to data handling by developing our understanding of using tally marks. We have also been able to answer more complex questions about real object charts.
