As a pooled fund, First Response Fund brings together diverse stakeholders to resource local, diverse women and girl-led organizations for life-saving humanitarian response.
First Response Fund is guided by a multi-stakeholder Advisory Group. The Advisory Group includes women-led organizations, women’s and feminist funds, and humanitarian response agencies.

Ma’Mara Sakit Village, South Sudan
Aluel Atem is a feminist peacebuilder, gender advisor, and movement organizer with over a decade of experience working across fragile and conflict-affected contexts in the Horn of Africa. She is the Co-Dreamer of Ma’Mara Sakit Village, a women-led social enterprise and feminist community initiative in South Sudan that centers healing justice, economic solidarity, and women and girls’ leadership in crisis-affected settings.

Equality Fund, Canada
Beatriz Gonzalez Manchon is Co-Vice President of Global Programs at the Equality Fund, where she focuses on the design and build of diverse grantmaking streams and enhancing grantmaking systems, policies and practices. Beatriz brings to the Equality Fund two decades of experience working with women’s rights organizations around the world, especially in South East Asia, the Americas, Central Europe, and the Middle East.
Chhavi Doonga
Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds, India
Chhavi Doonga is the Director of Programmes and Partnerships at Prospera International Network of Women’s Funds, where she leads membership strategy, cross-regional collaboration, and programmatic support for a global network of 47 women’s and feminist funds. She has prior experience working at the Aga Khan Foundation in Afghanistan and with UNESCO in India.

She is currently the Global President, Founder, and CEO of Network of Women with Disabilities, a global network focused on empowerment and development of women with disabilities.

Maria Reha is a seasoned development and humanitarian professional with over 25 years of experience across diverse roles with the United Nations, international NGOs, and development consultancies. Her career has spanned multiple countries, including Afghanistan, South Sudan, Sudan, Liberia, Pakistan, and Canada.
Nana Zulu
African Women’s Development Fund, Zambia
Nana Zulu is a feminist leader with over 17 years of experience advancing women’s rights, peacebuilding and feminist humanitarian response across Africa. In her role as Director of Programmes at the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF), she oversees strategic grantmaking to women's rights organizations and feminist movements including those operating in crisis, conflict and post-conflict settings.
Salma Sakr
Global Resilience Fund, Egypt
Salma Sakr has more than ten years of experience in organizing for gender and migration justice in Egypt, Lebanon, and Iraq. She works on human rights monitoring, research, and advocacy. She currently works at the Global Resilience Fund, which moves resources to girls and young feminists responding to crises across the global south.
Sofía Marcía
Urgent Action Fund Latin America and Caribbean, Honduras
Sofia Marcía is the Co-Executive Director of the Urgent Action Fund for Latin America and the Caribbean. She trusts in the collective power of women and conspires with them and their struggles, as well as with black, Indigenous, trans, and nonbinary people of the Abya Yala. She is a member of the political ecology research group of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences and Humanities CLACSO since 2016 and has recently contributed to research about gender and climate justice.
First Response Fund secretariat is housed at the Equality Fund, a Canadian-based, global feminist fund shifting power and resources to women and girls in the Global South and East.
