At VB we have a 2-day timetable. This means that if today is a day 1, tomorrow is a day 2. The third day would be a day 1 again, and so on. The benefit is that it is remember what class you have in what period. Other advantages are that you get:
Core every day (great for retention)
Gym every second day (it's awesome to get out and move)
A second language every other day (helps to develop fluency)
Two complementary class (to experience new things and develop some of your passion areas)
TIMETABLE TUMBLE
Because our timetable is structured so that you always have the same classes on the same day at the same time, we tumble our timetable so this doesn't happen for the whole year. This is just a fancy way of saying that three times a year, you will change the order in which to go to classes. This way, you get to see your teachers at different times during the day and we are able to make sure you do note have the same class in period 1 each day (when you might be sleepy) or in period 6 (when you might be more mentally tired).
LEAP (Learning, Enrichment, Application, Practice)
When the last class of the day ends, the learning doesn't stop! Students who need extra support, enrichment, or extra time to learn an outcome, will be invited to receive one-on-one or small group instruction or intervention with teachers or peer tutors during LEAP. LEAP is a 30 - minute block of time built into the end of a student's day. Students can also choose to attend LEAP to work on assignments and extra practice. LEAP is part of every students regular school day even if you might not have the opportunity to go every day.
