The Totem Hoop Classic Basketball Tournament was first established in 1993. It has long been a staple event hosted at Ross Sheppard High School where students, parents and fans have been able to watch some of the top teams from around Western Canada participate in the basketball seasons earliest tournaments. It has always been a great way for teams to start their season and we look forward to hosting this event for many years to come.
Our stunning Main Gym has held a number of memorable games and some of the best players to play in Alberta such as Ross Sheppard's own Steve Sir, Jermaine Bucknor and Mangisto Arop.
December 4-6, 2025 at Ross Sheppard High School located on 13546 111 Ave NW.
Totem Hoop is an 8 team, Oregon Draw guaranteeing each team 3 games of play for both senior varsity boys and girls teams.
Opening Ceremonies will occur on Friday, December 5, in the morning between 9:00 am - 10:30 am.
-Spectators are welcome to attend the tournament. The following prices will be in effect:
Day Pass- $10.00
3-Day Tournament Pass- $20.00
Ross Sheppard Students- Free with 2025 Student ID Card
The 2025 program will be available closer to the tournament.
All games will take place in the South and North gyms at the school. In addition:
Home teams will wear white or light coloured uniforms.
Home team is on the bottom bracket of the draw.
Teams are asked to provide their own warm-up balls for the tournament.
FIBA Rules
Ross Sheppard High School will host a coaches and officials’ hospitality room for the duration of the tournament. We appreciate the efforts and time of the coaches' and officials that attend. We hope you get a chance to socialize with your colleagues and the coaches from various schools.
The following are awarded for those teams that take part in the Totem Hoop Classic:
Championship Trophy, T-Shirts and a Plaque are awarded to our winners.
Medals for first and second place teams.
5 All Stars will be selected and a Tournament MVP’s will be chosen from the championship winning teams.
